1) The idea was to get up close with the statue and capture the best side. So there was no set up for this picture but more like finding the right angle with the right colour of background.
2) Since the face is the point of interest, the facial features are the first thing seen. Then as you move down,you notice the pipe in his hand and his big belly.
3) This picture is a fill the frame kind picture with a little room for the outline, so that takes your eyes around the subject, and also since only his face is in focus, you first see that then you move down and notice the body as well even tho it is not as clear as the face.
