The tone in the photo is balanced with the black and whites. The swan stands out completely against the darkness in the subjects sweater. The space next to him leaves his face in the rule of thirds spot, as to not distract the viewers eye towards the swan. The depth of focus is perfectly set on Leo, and the swan provides a shape that leads the eye around, making it visually appealing.

This is an extremely beautiful portrait due to the simplicity of the model. Though there is nothing much going on in the photo, it is strong because of its clarity and strong lines. The strong lines and shapes are in her hair, eyes, and mouth. There is a single slight dribble of what could be a tear sliding down her face. This isn't even necessary, because the sadness is visualized on the model's face.

This picture is very eye catching as leading lines, selective focus and rule of thirds is being used. The main focus point of the picture is the first mine worker on the left. We can tell this as he is in the rule of thirds. Then the secondary focus is the second man, We can again make out due to the selective focus being used. Thirdly, since the men are shirtless, they form a lot of leading lines which takes our eyes all around the picture. This pictures tells a sad tale possibly about the apartheid or when racial discrimination was still common.
